Chapter 35. Managing Applications with the Administration Console

By Bernard Ciconte

IN THIS CHAPTER

BEA WebLogic Server provides a variety of technologies to host J2EE applications and the supporting subsystems. The WebLogic Administration Console provides the very important feature of organizing the configuration and control of the system resources into a common graphical user interface (GUI). All aspects of the WebLogic Server system administration are made available through a standard Web browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator. This includes configuration of the WebLogic Server domain itself and the services provided by WebLogic Server, as well as the configuration and deployment of your J2EE components and applications.

In this chapter, you learn how to use the WebLogic Administration Console effectively. You're provided with a description of every WebLogic Server management function and how to configure and control each function through the Administration Console. When applicable, best practice tips and cautions are clearly identified for a particular topic. References to online help also give you an easy-to-follow, step-by-step guide for configuring a given resource. The sections in this chapter are organized to map directly to the order in which the resources and services are presented in the Administration Console. This correlation provides a quick reference between the information in this chapter and using the WebLogic Administration Console.
