Summary

The J2EE Connector Architecture promises to make life easier for Java programmers who need to connect to EIS systems. But until vendors and third-party software companies support the entire J2EE specification and release corresponding resource adapters that work with these systems, the J2EE Connector Architecture is lacking support for widespread adoption. Just as important as functionality is the adoption of the Common Client Interface that standardizes the client code written against the resource adapter. With that said, the J2EE Connector Architecture is still a big leap toward making proprietary connector APIs a thing of the past.
