Summary

As I have indicated previously, this chapter serves only to introduce those who are unfamiliar with SQL to the language in order to participate with the examples in the following chapters. Although it is a fairly easy language to read, the complexities of the language would (and do) require an entire book in itself to explain. Hence, for those who are interested in further readings, I again recommend visiting the MySQL website at www.mysql.com or the second edition of the book MySQL by Paul Dubois. Both resources are excellent in explaining those topics that may not have been appropriately covered in this chapter and will serve you well in the development of Web applications using PHP.
