B.4 Registering for Exams

B.4.1 Exam Prices

The price for taking the MySQL Core Certification exam is the local equivalent of U.S. $200 plus any local taxes. Please check the Pearson VUE Web site or call your regional Pearson VUE test center for exact information on pricing in your area. (Addresses and telephone numbers are listed in section B.12, "Pearson VUE Contact Information Contact Information" at the end of this guide.)

The price for taking the MySQL Professional Certification exam is the local equivalent of U.S. $250 plus any local taxes.

Each certification level consists of a single exam.

If your organization has many employees wanting to certify for one or more levels of MySQL certification, you might consider using vouchers to pre-pay for exams and obtain volume discounts. Contact your regional Pearson VUE office for further information (see the list of contact addresses and telephone numbers in section B.12, "Pearson VUE Contact Information Contact Information," of this guide).

B.4.2 Beta Exams

At times, MySQL AB might announce the possibility of taking part in beta testing of new or updated certification exams. Beta exams will be offered at a discounted price.

Just as regular exams, beta exams count toward certification. However, instead of receiving an immediate response, results of beta tests must first be evaluateB. For that reason, you won't receive the result of a beta exam until 3-4 months after the exam has taken place.

Details of upcoming beta exams are published on the MySQL certification Web site and on the certification mailing list, as information becomes available.

B.4.3 How to Register for or Reschedule Exams

All MySQL AB certification exams are delivered through Pearson VUE. There are three ways to register for exams:

• On the Pearson VUE Web site: http://www.vue.com/mysql

• By registering directly at a test center

• By calling a Pearson VUE call center

Subject to test center availability, you may register for an exam as late as the day on which you want to take the exam. The Pearson VUE FAQ page has additional information (see http://www.vue.com/faqs). This is also the place to look if you need to reschedule an exam.

B.4.4 Retaking Exams

Exams may be retaken at any time. However, we strongly recommend that you spend at least two weeks doing extra studies for each of the exams before retaking. All exams are created on-the-fly from a large pool of questions. It's unlikely that you'll be presented with any of the questions you answered in the first try.
