Summary

In this chapter, we covered the basics of Java's electronic messaging capabilities: sending, retrieving, replying to, and forwarding messages, and using attachments. We also mentioned how JavaMail works in the WebLogic environment and how to configure and use a WebLogic mail session. JavaMail's capabilities can be extended far beyond just sending and retrieving messages. There are add-ons for news protocols, store server protocols, and attachment handlers, just to name a few. You should now have no difficulties in adding email capabilities to your own WebLogic Server applications, and for the entrepreneurial developer this is just the starting point.
