Appendix A: About the CD-ROM

CD Content

This CD-ROM contains example program files as well as electronic copies of the figures presented in the book. The contents of the CD-ROM are organized by chapter number and have references in the appropriate places for the program listings and figures. The system requirements to run the example programs are specified below.

System Requirements

Intel Pentium III/IV-based computer running either Red Hat Linux 8.0 or 9.0, or SuSE Linux 8.1 or 8.2. The typical memory requirements to run these operating systems are provided in their respective specifications. However, to test the J2EE examples, a minimum of 512 MB of memory is required to run the application server. The CD-ROM does not include the operating system, as the latest version of the operating system can always be obtained from the respective vendors, including most recent patches.

The examples are built using Borland Kylix 3 (Delphi Edition and C++ Edition), as well as Borland JBuilder8 Enterprise Edition for the Java/JSP/J2EE programs. J2EE examples are tested against Borland Enterprise Server 5.2. Evaluation editions of these software programs may be obtained from www.borland.com by registering at the site and making an appropriate request. The terms and conditions of evaluation of these software programs are governed by the appropriate licensing terms imposed by Borland Software Corporation and may be changed at their discretion. Therefore, readers are advised to check with Borland Software Corporation regarding the current terms.
